Frequently Asked Questions

Beyond the design fee, what other costs are involved in setting up a website?
You’ll need to pay for website hosting, domain name registration, photography, third-party software, and fonts. If you need help maintaining your website once it is completed, I offer continuing service at an hourly rate.

Commercial photography for Cape May County businesses is available through Meacreations Photography. (If you are a photographer in Mackinac Island or South Haven, Michigan, please contact me! I would love to affiliate with your business.)

How long does it take to get a website set up?

The overall process will take several weeks. I spend upwards of 30 hours designing a new website. To help speed things up, have your materials ready before you approach any web designers, such as your logo, company colors, names of fonts you use in existing marketing, copies of recent ads, website content, photos, and a list of websites you want to use as inspiration.

What payment types do you accept? Do you work in trade? Will you work for the love of it?
I accept cash and checks. 50% of the quoted price is due up front; 50% due at completion. I do not work in trade. Although I love what I do, I don’t work pro bono due to that pesky mortgage.

Someone offered to design my website for a lot less. Will you match their price?
No. If $200 is all you want to spend on your website, call the person who quoted you that price.

Do you set up e-commerce websites so I can sell online?

I work with Shopify, a hosted e-commerce system. It is a fabulous, easy-to-learn e-commerce solution perfect for small businesses. You will need to set up your own PayPal account to handle checkout.

I have a finished design; I just need someone to turn it into a working website.
I prefer not to work with someone else’s designs. There are online services which provide PSD to HTML conversion for a low cost.

I like my existing website, but I need someone to help me update it.
